A Fine Walk to Willance's Leap near Richmond
6 miles. Explorer Map 304 recommended. Stout walking footwear essential. Steady easy/moderate climbing. Path at times near but not precariously close to the cliff edge. Best avoided in strong winds. This route chosen for views approaching Willance's Leap and for view of the Leap from below.
Walkers must take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for the safety of themselves and those in their charge. Not recommended for uncontrollable children or unleaded dogs.
Walk uphill to house
19, cross the road
and enter this gate
Turn Rt uphill in
large open field
of Westfields,
continue past
seats along the
top of the field

View Richmond behind you then turn back to face track continuing on but bear Left, halfway between the track carrying on and the dike, when gorse bushes appear keep Rt of them
As though you have come out of Tourist Information. Turn Rt, pass Cricket Field, take 3rd road on Rt, WESTFIELDS, by shop. 100m from Tourist Information.
Keep Rt over brow
Pass round gate post and immediately over stile to right into pasture field
Leave by gate, turn L into tarred lane, pass lanes on L and on Rt and reach gate across lane at High Leazes Farm
Bear slightly L heading for brow of hill, soon join cattle track. (OS map shows path straight to top of hill but cattle track is well used by walkers)
Over this stile and next stop is Willance's Leap
Over the brow and to a fence and this fine view of the Swale. Turn Rt, follow fence on left to stile in corner. Over stile path is narrow and can be slippery but this route gives the grand view on our Home Page!
